GRANT PURPOSE
For businesses to support employees/trainees to participate in training programs.
FUND DETAILS
The employer contributes one-third of the training costs, while the federal and provincial governments cover the remaining two-thirds.
BENEFITS
- Flexibility to select trainees and training programs.
- Reimbursement for two-thirds of eligible training costs.
- Opportunity to employ the trainee at the end of the training.
- Capability to make multiple grant applications up to $100,000 per fiscal year and up to $10,000 per individual trainee.
ELIGIBILITY
- Employers: those from the private and not-for-profit sectors.
- Trainees:
- Canadian citizens
- Permanent Residents
- Temporary residents with valid authorization, holding a valid Canadian work permit.
- Trainers:
- Must be a third party, offering at least 24 hours of training, and provide a credential at completion of training.
NOTE: publicly funded organizations and self-employed individuals do not qualify.
Training costs covered:
- Tuition fees or fees charged by the training provider.
- Mandatory student fees, textbooks, software, and other required materials.
- Learning material fees and examination fees.

TIMELINE
- A minimum of 20 days is required to have your application reviewed.
- Training must begin after being awarded the grant.
